This year's 31st annual
Autumn Jubilee will be held October 2nd & 3rd, 2010. Plan to join in on all the fun and
activities on Bringle Ferry Road at Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury, NC. The festival will be on Saturday and
Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Some 45,000 plus visitors enjoy the family fun festival. Spread
out in this beautiful 450 acre park will be over 150 handcrafted crafters from
throughout the southeast with their quality handmade wares. Crafts will include woodcraft, framed
prints, ceramics, folk art, fabric crafts, quilts, leathercraft, bird houses,
home made soaps, quilts, baby items and many more beautiful crafts. Enjoy
visiting the " Heritage Village Crafts” this is hands on demonstrations of
our heritage days. There will be
soap making, pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing, slate carving, stained
glass and more. You can both
be entertained and shop because the crafters not only sell you unique handmade
crafts, but you can actually see them being made with skills not easily found
anymore. The
T.M. Stanback Outdoor Theater will be the scene of continuous stage shows from
10:00am to 6:00 pm Saturday and 11:00am to 6:00 pm on Sunday. There will be music ranging from
bluegrass, beach, gospel, rock and roll, contemporary Christian and much more,
bands and clogging. On Saturday,
October 2 our headliner at 3:30p.m. will be “Too Much Sylvia”. On Sunday October 3 our headliner at
3:30 will be “Legends of Beach”.
Also, Sunday our afternoon starting at 1:30p.m. special entertainment
will be “Superglide”. You
want be able to wait and chow down on some of the best food when you smell the
great aroma of Chicken and Dumplings,
BBQ chicken plates, pork chop sandwiches, pit cooked BBQ, turkey legs,
greek food, hamburgers, hot dogs,
home fries, kettle corn,
fried apple pies and much more plus top this great food off with
homemade ice cream made from an old time hit and miss motor and Bojangles’. Creativity
abounds in the pumpkin area, where over 1800 pumpkins will be available for
children to express hidden artistic talents. There will be old timey games for children and adults
on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and don't forget the log
sawing will be held again this year.
On Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. the log sawing competition will once
again ignite old rivalries and is sure to make some new ones. Children and adults can enjoy the
festival and park by riding three miniature trains, visiting the Hurley Train
Station, riding a beautiful carousel, take a paddleboat ride or play some
miniature golf and gem mining for either gems or sharks teeth. Be sure to go visit our Wildlife Adventure Center, a
small fee to see all the exciting animals and also visit the Reptile Center,
which is free to the public. The kids will also enjoy the new T.M. Stanback
Barnyard Area for a small fee. The Carolina
Puppet Theater's head puppeteers will head our children's stage this year. The Carolina Puppet Theater will have
on the Children’s Stage Poly and Ester the Gabardine Sisters, lead zany, fun
musical numbers that are interactive an lively. This is the chance for the “kids” to become stars as they
are invited up to perform along.
The music, skits, and puppetry are family oriented to be enjoyed by
adults as well as children.
Then the children can visit our Children's Area where they can have
their face painted by our great artist and enjoy magical performances by Buddy
Farnan and his assistant. Back
this year is the “ Knightly Oder of the Fiat Lux”; this is a fight a knight competition,
demos and medieval market. Much, much more will be in the
children’s area. Don't
miss the fun and excitement of Autumn Jubilee. Free admission.
If you don't want to walk, ride the tractor and wagon shuttles, which
are free, and also van rides are free for the handicap. Come and enjoy a fun day at the park
