America is Liberty

America Salutes You
by Judith K. Miles

We salute you, dear troops!

You were called to go across the sea;

you answered with resolve to set a nation free;

you answered to protect your homeland with honor and with pride,

and to selflessly sacrifice your life for us, if need be.

We salute you, dear troops!

You were called and said goodbye without complaint

to do your duty, to keep us safe;

to keep us free;

to allow our nation to live in security.

We salute you, dear troops!

You were called to stop the enemy

who would strive to break our spirit;

who would beat us down to submit in fear;

to take our soul and bend our knee;

to worship them with all humility.

We salute you, dear troops!

You were called and went to serve

to give others freedom they deserve;

to hunt the tyrants who rule with terror and steal the soul,

to keep their evil stranglehold.

We salute you, dear troops!

You were called to go across the sea;

you answered with resolve to set a nation free;

you answered to protect your homeland with honor and with pride,

and to selflessly sacrifice your life for us, if need be.

America salutes you, dear troops!

Keep heart,

stay the course, and

thank you from the bottom of a grateful nation's heart.

America is Liberty

By Judith K. Miles

America, our native land –- a home of people free,

whose patriot dreams have been fulfilled;

the dreams of liberty.

America, our native land –- we live here without fear;

a life that’s free,

a homeland blessed

with love and unity.

America, our chosen land –- a home of promise given;

to have a church;

to worship God;

to send our prayers to heaven.

America, our chosen land –- religion’s free to all;

to kneel and pray in security

to one’s own deity.

America, the promised land to multitudes of souls,

who claim the gifts of bountiful earth

of grain and goods untold.

America, the promised land with gifts beyond belief;

where goals are met

through freedom kept;

and governed by “the people.”

America, where brothers strive to meet each others needs;

whose work is proof

 there can be love

in toil with liberty.

America, America, we live in unity;

we pay the price,

we fight the fight,

to keep our nation free.

God Bless America!

After fourteen years of marriage, in 1972 Paul and I took our four children and had a honeymoon in Oahu at Waikiki.  Upon returning I wrote my first poem/lyrics – “Sweet Memories of our Love.”  More recently, since retiring from a secretarial career and moving with my husband to Pinehurst, I have written more poems/lyrics.  Some have been made into songs and published as such.  I hope to continue writing and hope that others find enjoyment in my offerings.  I have written Christmas songs and Gospel music, A wedding song, and Country ballads.  One song was to specifically honor those whose loved ones are serving in the military away from home.  And my song for children entitled "A Child's Prayer" was chosen by HillTop Records as a Featured Song on their website a few years ago.

This song “America is Liberty” expresses my appreciation for America and how thankful I am to live in this great  nation.
