About Keith Henderson
For more than 30 years, Keith Henderson has brought back the memories of Elvis through his show, “Illusions of The King”.
Keith has composed a show that captures the energy and dynamics of an Elvis concert and possesses a stage presence that draws the audience to him. Noted for his superior vocal talent, Keith takes pride that his performance is completely natural and the delivery of each song is filled with emotion, so that the audience not only hears the music, but “experiences” the song.
In 2002 Keith won the Grand Prize in the $50,000 Tribute to the King contest in Biloxi, Mississippi, beating out countless competitors from across the World. He also won the 1998, 1999, and 2000 “Images of Elvis” competitions in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Along the way, he’s had the privilege of performing with Elvis’ original back up singers the legendary Jordanaires and members of the Stamps Quartet.
Keith performed his very first “Illusions of The King” tribute show in 1978, making him one of the very first professional Elvis acts in the World. He caught the Elvis bug as a 3-year-old, listening to his grandmother’s Elvis records and singing along. He practiced almost daily, developing his style of singing along with those records and emulating Elvis moves he saw at the local drive-in theater.
For Keith, the shows are definitely a family affair. His grandmother made most of his outfits, his mother studded the outfits, his wife Sarah handles scheduling, his daughter Lauren performs on stage with him, and his son Chad contributes to the production of the show.
With a repertoire of hundreds of Elvis songs, no two shows are ever the same.
“What I try to do is give the illusion of Elvis still on stage and bring back bits and pieces of memories that people have already had or seen on television and regenerate those,” he says. “It’s a true tribute to Elvis.”
