Flat, fast and Fun!  These are the three words often used to describe the LRA5kStarting in downtown Lumberton, the course makes it way through tree lined streets, beside historic homes and of course, along the Lumber River before finishing at the plaza. However, be careful, the final long stretch down Elm Street has been called a “nightmare” (just kidding…but it is tough). The 5k race begins at 11:00AM.

Not only do all age group winners receive awards that are original pieces of artwork, but there is a lot of money up for grabs in the overall, masters and grandmasters categories. All participants receive a t-shirt and free entrance into  the Bud Light Chili Cook-Off.

The day gets started with the SRMC Family Fun Mile. This is a FREE event open to the entire family. Over the years it has continued to grow and we often see over 1,000 children lining up at the start and finishing with a smile. The Family Fun Mile begins at 10:00AM

Bring your bikes!  Bring your helmets!  After the SRMC Family Fun Mile  and
LRA5k race join us for the Bike for Family Fun Mile beginning at 10:30; or show us what you are made of on a 20 Mile Bike Ride beginning at 12:30.  The bike rides are free but helmets are required.  To promote physical activity we encourage you and your family to consider participating in both the running and the cycling events offered this year.

Of course, the Rumba is much more than a couple of races. It is also a festival featuring tons of food and the
Bud Light Chili Cook-off, one of the largest in North Carolina. In addition, the whole family will enjoy the Lumbee River EMC FREE KIDZ ZONE to enjoy the entire afternoon.
