The Ford Place Restaurant and Pub

There is a new restaurant opening in Mt. Gilead that is sure to be one of the most interesting dining establishments in North Carolina.  Its cuisine will rank among the finest our state has to offer.  This new establishment, named The Ford Place, is located in the historic Haywood Ford building.  The Ford Place is a joint venture involving Bruce Haywood (who has over 35 years experience in multiple successful restaurants) and Chef Henry Antos (formerly of Henry’s Tonight), who has distinguished himself through his creative cooking in twenty years of experience.

The Ford Place is open 7 days a week, with a southern Buffet on Sunday.  It has a full bar and live music.  Bands perform on a stage that has been converted from an antique car lift.  The menu focuses on Chef Henry’s specialties, while the bar fare features Bruce’s expertise.

Mr. Haywood told the Uwharrie Visitor Center that while the menu and atmosphere would make the Ford Place a major draw in Montgomery County, “People may be most surprised by our prices,” he said.  “These are tough economic times and we want to offer everything from fine dining to pizza and wings in an upscale but comfortable atmosphere.  We want to make the Ford Place affordable and invite everyone to join us.  People will be shocked by how low our prices are and how good our food is.”

Mr. Haywood continued, “We offer a favorable combination of the best traditional fare with newer and more modern menu items. Our tasteful cuisine includes Sterling Silver USDA choice beef, chops and ribs; fresh fish and chicken; specialty salads, pastas and pizzas all distinctly flavored by proprietary recipes. The Ford Place Restaurant and Pub is a friendly, popular place to gather for lunch and dinner. We also offer a Sunday Brunch menu for all to enjoy. Come experience the new standard of excellence in dining...great food and great service in a casual, comfortable environment.”

The Ford Place will likely become a destination for day trippers out of Charlotte, who may come to Montgomery County for the lake, mountain trails, the Town Creek Indian Mound or a day of antiquing.  However, the quality of the food and entertainment should be enough to draw diners from all over to this unique establishment.  One thing though, is inescapable in Mt. Gilead – the relaxed, friendly, home-town feel of this small and historic town.  The Ford Place is sure to become a place that supports and engenders community among all its patrons, whether local or from out of town.
