Family Friday Night Concert Series: May 5 
The Band 28690
Kick off our Family Friday Night Concert Series with us on May 5,
2017 with The Band 28690! These local, nostalgic, beach, classic rock,
Americana, variety and country music performers are sure to get
your toes tapping. The music starts at 7 pm at the Town of Valdese
parking lot beside Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street. Sponsored by the Town of Valdese. Friday Night Cruise-ins at Myra's continue
throughout the year. Vintage cars and trucks fill up the block
around Myra's Restaurant. Designated Fridays host a car show on
Main Street.

Myra's Classic & Antique Car Cruise In
Classic and Antique cars of all sorts fill the Myra's and Rock Drug
parking lots on Friday nights beginning at 6pm. Visitors are welcome
to stroll through, take pictures and chat with the owners of these
unique cars. Enjoy the music from a deejay in front of Myra's and
on special nights performances from Elvis! Raffles are also a highlight
of these Friday nights with chances for visitors to take home cash! Fridays starting in May and through October.
Valdese Gets E-Charging Station
Town of Valdese will have their official Ribbon Cutting event for the new E-Charging Station on May 8th at 11:00am. The E-Charging Station will be located directly across from the Fire Department on Faet Street.
Valdese Farmers Market
The Valdese Farmers Market opens May 19, 2017. The Market offers locally grown produce, baked goods, meats, soaps, and more! Located on Faet St. across from the fire department, the Farmers Market is open on Wednesdays from 9-12 noon and Fridays from 11-4pm. May-September.
Valdese Fishing Day Fun at McGalliard Falls
The Valdese Recreation Department will be hosting the Granville Marrow Memorial Fish Day at McGalliard Falls on Saturday, May 20st, 2017 from 9am to 1pm for ages 4 -12.  Kids will have fun fishing for trout in McGalliard Falls Creek and enjoy a fish fry (hotdogs for those who aren't fish lovers), and best of all, it's FREE.

Parents may register their child beginning Tuesday, May 10th by calling the VRD at 828-879-2132 or they may register on the day of the event starting at 8:15am. Tickets will be issued at the park Saturday morning and all participants must have a ticket to fish. Regulations for this event include:
  1. limit of seven fish per child,
  2. no artificial lures or treble hooks, Rooster Tails,
  3. one fishing pole per child, and
  4. be registered and have a ticket to fish. 
Winners of the biggest fish caught in each age group will receive a trophy after the event ends at 1pm. The general public may fish after 3pm. 
A fish fry sponsored by the American Legion Post 234 will be held during event.  All participants are asked to donate some fish back towards the fish fry so there will be plenty of fish for all. Hot dogs will also be served.

From This Day Forward 50th Anniversary
The outdoor drama "From This Day Forward" written by Fred Cranford is the flagship show of Old Colony Players. The summer of 2017 will mark the 50th consecutive season of production. This drama tells the story of the Waldenses, a people from the area known as the Cottian Alps in Northern Italy near the French border, and the founders of the Town of Valdese.
The 50th season is proudly directed by Kenneth Kay & Kim Cozort Kay

McGalliard Falls Grist Mill
The first Saturday of each month from April through October, Valdese Public Works will have the waterwheel at McGalliard Falls Park running. Make sure to mark your calendars and plan your photo shoots for these special Saturdays. The waterwheel was replaced in 2016 after a tree damaged the previous wheel beyond repair. In honor of the renovations at the park, the public is encouraged to visit the park and check out the new wheel and enjoy this beautiful Valdese gem!
